Assessment, Evaluation, and Research (AER)

Foundational Outcome:

"Differentiate among assessment, program review, evaluation, planning and research, as well as the methods appropriate to each"

  • Completed CSP 6030: Theory and Assessment of Educational Environments

  • Utilized benchmarking methods to better understand best practices for implementing student organization leadership training for The Ohio State University's Student Organization Success Coaches within their Student Activities office

Foundational Outcome:

"Explain to students and colleagues the relationship of AER processes to learning outcomes and goals"

  • Completed EDFI 6410 (Statistics in Education) and EDFI 6420 (Research in Education) and articulated the importance of assessment processes in program design and implementation within higher education and student affairs

  • Finalized program review for the Ziggy Points program within BGSU's Office of Campus Activities, including comparison and contrast of current program with other institutions of similar size and recommendations for improvement of program

Student Learning and Development (SLD)

Foundational Outcome:

"Articulate one's own developmental journey in relation to formal theories"

  • Completed CSP 6020: Theory and Assessment of College Student Development

  • Authored a paper surrounding Baxter Magolda's Theory of Self-Authorship and reflected on my developmental journey in relation to its framework and concept

Foundational Outcome:

"Articulate how race, ethnicity, nationality, class, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, dis/ability, and religious belief can influence development during the college years"

  • Completed CSP 6035: Multicultural Competence in Student Affairs

  • Collaborated on presentation for CSP 6020 class surrounding Gibson's model for disability identity development, including information on the model and examples from media portraying identities surrounding dis/ability

Leadership (LEAD)

Foundational Outcome:

"Identify one's strengths and challenges as a leader and seek opportunities to develop leadership skills"

  • Took StrengthsQuest as an undergraduate student and again in my first year of graduate school and compared differences between strengths and why some emerged more than others

  • Advised 5 person Interview Days (I-Days) 2018 team as Assistant to the Chair and supported prospective candidates, current students, and supervisors during their I-Days experience

Foundational Outcome:

"Build mutually supportive relationships with colleagues and students across similarities and difference"

  • Conducted individual meetings with students in CSP Class of 2019 cohort to check in on graduate school experience and reflect on where areas of support could be stronger 

  • Advised prospective candidates of CSP program from application processes to Interview Days logistics in order to best prepare them for life in graduate school, regardless of choice in school
